Another weekend, another stellar line-up of things to do in Shanghai. There's a fancy Champagne festival at The Peninsula, Wonder Woman hits cinemas in the latest DC blockbuster, there's The Cannery's monthly bloc party and Dutch DJ/producer Ferry Corsten is at MYST. Friday

Grande Affaire De Champagne



The Peninsula Shanghai is hosting a Grande Affaire de Champagne, a three-day roster of luxe events that will celebrate the Champagne region and French vintage culture.

Wonder Woman



Widely seen as the best thing about the dour punchfest that was Batman v Superman, DC's iconic Wonder Woman now gets her own Hollywood blockbuster movie, directed by Patty Jenkins.

SHFT. presents UZ + Blow Fever



The Creator, the OG, the King of Dark Trap. The superlatives could go on (and do) for trap DJ UZ. Fresh off releasing 'new trap bangers', he's at Arkham alongside China’s Blow Fever courtesy of trap crew SHFT.

The lost City of Z



Movies as critically acclaimed as The Lost City of Z don’t usually make it into Chinese cinemas, and it’s even more surprising that we’re getting this only two months after it came out in the US. James Gray’s artful, measured historical epic about an explorer searching for a fabled lost city in the Amazon isn’t your average summer blockbuster.

Love Bang #41 with Naaah & Lacychu



Dial 1-900-Love-Bang for raw cartoons, hip hop, club trax, and culture shock vibes. It's time to get surreal again at DADA, with wavey visuals and decor, eclectic tunes, and a chill, diverse crowd that's down to dance until street breakfast time. Ferry Corsten 



Dutch DJ and producer Ferry Corsten made his name as a ’90s Ministry of Sound-affiliated trance producer. He’s maintained a prolific output whilst shifting towards a progressive house sound and is a regular on DJ Mag’s top 100 poll.

All Caked Up



BottlesXO is getting all caked up up for its second anniversary celebrations and they need the help of Shanghai's finest to dry up 60 litres of quality craft beer. They'll be cracking open one keg of Song White Ale, one keg of Westwood English Pale Ale and one keg of Ballast Point Even Keel Session IPA. It's all free flow until it's all gone.

Bloc Party at the Cannery



Spread yourself out over the The Cannery's plush lawn with awesome eats and drinks at the monthly bloc party. Held on the first Saturday of every month, the neighbourhood gathering has barbecue rom Flippin' Freddy, a cocktail bar from Michael 'Punchy' Chen and beers from Boxing Cat Brewery.

Pawnstar Pop-up



China's biggest secondhand store Pawnstar is having a pop-up event on the third floor of Lost Heaven on Julu Road. They'll be bringing designer fashions from major to more independent brands, unique upcycled pieces, and vintage.

JZ All Star Big Band



Alec Haavik leads some of the city's top jazz musicians at JZ: Li Shihai, Zhang Xiongguan, Toby Mak, Huang Jianyi, Charles Foldesh and lots, lots more. It's a big, big line-up. Get in early for the Li Shihai Quartet too.

Midsummer



Qu Fengguo's new solo exhibition Midsummer, his third at Don Gallery, presents the paintings that belong to the series 'Four Seasons' composed between 2015 and 2017. 'Four Seasons' by Qu Fengguo stems from a sense of aesthetic judgment analogous to 'mono-no-aware.'

Sunday

Kellogg's Cereal Café



This weekend is your last chance to gorge on cereal at famous café Kellogg's NYC's pop-up in Shanghai. The whole place is decorated in pink and for 38RMB per bowl you can prepare your own bowl of rose granola cereal with as many toppings as you like and enjoy it at the beautifully furnished terrace.

NT Live: Man and Superman



A fresh take on Shaw's indictment of romance and, indeed, woman-kind. The protagonist, a rich and garrulous bachelor, flees from a pursuing romantic conquest and ends up in Spain, where he engages in a debate with the devil.

One Summer Day: Central Studios Annual Fair Day



With the theme of 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,' One Summer Day features the best Shanghai market creatives. Browse original fashion designs, vintage treasures and unique wares from more than 40 retailers, and enjoy food and drink from various Shanghai staples, as well as music from local DJs. Entry is free but attendees are encouraged to make a donation to supported charities The Library Project and RE:FORM.

FANANA



The works on display at UNDEF/NE are from Mak’s ‘FANANA’ series, a collection of cartoon bananas, taking the form of canvas prints and pen artworks. The result is a yellow banana wonderland on the second floor of the M50 coffee shop-cum-creative space, featuring some happy-go-lucky bananas who, in Mak’s words, ‘do what they want, and don’t care what anyone says about them.’
